Rock gods give the attorney and court reporter a unique experience
When a client court reporting firm from Philadelphia called us and asked if we could cover 3 days of depositions in London with Led Zeppelin, we were glad to help. The case which has been well publicized all around the World both before and since the verdict concerned the potential infringement of copyright from a segment of the track ‘stairway to heaven’.
Aside from the standard videotaping and transcribing the deposition we also had to make sure that the audio for Live acoustic guitar played by Jimmy Page and playback of pre recorded music from performances were captured in broadcast quality without a hitch, as there is never any second take in a deposition scenario. Our Videographer, Gerlando handled this with his customary cool professionalism. Being 26 years old he had never heard of Led Zeppelin, although our court reporter certainly had. She was absolutely walking on air at having the opportunity to spend a whole day each, in the company of Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones.
To listen to Robert Plant and Jimmy Page recount their experiences touring in the USA in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s was a privilege but to see and hear Jimmy Page play segments of the guitar solo in a deposition was truly unforgettable.
